Our History
The Attenborough, Beeston, Chilwell Arts Trail (ABCAT) comprises a diverse groups of artists and makers who have been peer selected to exhibit in our annual event in South Nottinghamshire.
ABCAT celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2025. The arts trail has grown in importance over the years and has become an established favourite in our community’s diary, showcasing a multitude of diverse artists and makers in local venues. Last year we celebrated our important landmark with a major city centre exhibition in April, delivery of the ever popular trail in September and another seasonal Artist and Makers Fair in November. We appreciate the fantastic support we received from local sponsors, suppliers and venues – and of course, our artists.
The Trail is funded by the artists themselves. In addition, we appreciate the fantastic support from local sponsors, suppliers and venues.
We thank you for your support and hope you enjoy our event.
Mission Statement
Attenborough, Beeston and Chilwell Art Trail features work from a group of diverse individual artists/makers who are committed to producing original, creative, handmade, high quality professional pieces. They are all based in Attenborough, Beeston, Chilwell and neighbouring areas.
ABCAT delivers well organised events that bring excellent, innovative and diverse local art together. These events are designed to engage, entertain, excite and enthuse the local community.
Community Involvement
The Trail now organises a local Children’s Art Competition and works closely with local businesses who have become supporters or sponsors.
Due to the generosity of the sponsors the trail is a free community event. The trail takes pride in nurturing close links with the community and has delivered presentations to local schools and the civic society.
Broxtowe Creates
In June 2024, we worked closely with Broxtowe Borough Council and delivered an exciting program of Visual Arts activities as part of #BroxtoweCreates festival. The activities included a children’s art competition, which resulted in a fabulous exhibition held in the former Argos building in Beeston. Various creative workshops were also delivered across Broxtowe.
Charities supported by money raised at past ABC arts trail events include:
Cancer Research, Operation Orphan, Broxtowe women’s project, Harmless
